What are the differences between Energy Communities and collective self-consumption?

A Renewable Energy Community (REC), on the other hand, can bring together multiple users in the same grid area (same transformation substation). The operational steps are similar; in collective self-consumption the legal entity already exists (the condominium).

No, it's not mandatory. If you have a system you can share the energy you produce and get additional benefits, but you can also participate just as a consumer and use the renewable energy generated by other members. This way, even those who don't produce can contribute to the community and benefit economically and environmentally.

Do I need to change my supplier or meter to participate?

Accepted Answer

You don't need to change your energy supplier: you'll continue to receive electricity from the company you already have a contract with. Law 08/2020 on collective self-consumption and renewable energy communities confirms that each community member can freely choose their own supplier. All participation takes place through the portal, which allows you to monitor consumption and benefits simply and securely, without changing anything at a contractual or technical level.

How much can I save and are there initial costs?

Accepted Answer

Savings depend on your consumption and the amount of energy shared in the community. In general, you reduce your energy bill and receive incentives on the renewable energy produced and exchanged. Entry costs, if any, are always shown by the energy communities clearly and transparently, so you know exactly what to expect with no surprises.

Are there specific requirements for systems that can join Lampante?

Yes, systems must be powered by renewable sources and meet technical requirements such as maximum power, commissioning date and sustainability principles. Systems built in violation of eligibility criteria cannot participate, such as those from companies in difficulty or with previous non-compliant state aid, to ensure that all shared energy is safe and legal.

Can I participate in the community as a delegate for someone else?

Yes, the POD holder can delegate someone else to manage participation in the Renewable Energy Community and access the portal. The delegate can thus actively participate in the community, monitor consumption and benefits, while the ownership of the utility always remains with the POD holder.
